This morning I accepted a one-year internship with FGC in Philadelphia.

So, I guess I'm moving to Philadelphia in the near future. I'm not sure yet whether I'll be starting in July or starting in August, but I will keep you guys updated.

Not sure how I feel about it yet. Sad, definitely, to be leaving my friends and my awesome housemate and my garden. Kind of excited for a whole new place. Anxious about finding a place to live and new friends and trying to live on less money than I've made in years.

Congratulations! I'm sorry you're moving away, but not too far so hopefully you'll come and visit occasionally? *hugs*

Also, any chance you have time to go sing out a time or two before you move? :D I definitely want to go to the Beatles one.

Philly is pretty awesome! Will miss having you around, though. But this does sound like an exciting change.

We should plot a get-together sometime soon! (Soon I will stop having to plan everything around housemate-change logistics, which will make this easier :) )

Congratulations! I'm from a south Jersey suburb of Philly--my mom and brother still live there--it's a nice city. I'll tell you about some of my fav places there on Saturday.

What is FGC?

FGC is Friends General Conference. It's a Quaker organization that does... something. Something poorly defined. It's a communications internship, so hopefully I will find out what they do and help them communicate it better.

I want to know what they do too (besides the annual Gathering and the FGC Bookstore)!

There is something nebulous about "providing support" to Quaker Meetings. This incongruously makes me think of bras, which is probably not what they're going for.

I'm so glad we ran into you tonight and I got this news in person from you. Congratulations and best wishes, and I hope your internship goes very well! It's always scary leaving--I remember how hard it was for me to leave my home in New Jersey for a job in Maryland, so I empathize. It's not easy but sounds like a good move, literally and figuratively, for you.
