You know that scene in the Matrix when the French guy starts cussing? Is that subtitled in the English version? Even if it is, I'm pretty sure they didn't translate what he was saying. The audience watching with me started cracking up when the French subtitles stopped and this guy starts stringing together these words in his best Sylvie Joli accent.

Went out with Abby and friend again last night. It's so nice to be able to say to someone, "I loved The Iliad because Achilles turned out not to be so one-dimensional and his relationship with Hector turned out to be so much more complex than just hero kills hero and drags him around in the dirt; but still even though Achilles is delightfully complex I still think he's an asshole," and not only does she know what I'm talking about but she's perfectly willing to bitch about The Odyssey not being assigned in any classes except the evil mythology class. Of course, it is a bit intimidating that she's read the damn thing in the original Greek whereas I made do with an English translation. Oh, and beefive, she still says "excellent" in your evil voice. Just so you know that you've had an effect on the world, however small.

The big news: I have finally broken down and given in. I admit it. Last night I started a Harry Potter fic. It's long and involved and has a pretty cool plot, if I do say so myself. I doubt I will ever finish it, though. Especially since I'm writing it by hand and not on a computer. It's mostly peopled by the minor characters, cause they have so much more potential since JKR hasn't already fleshed them out, and because I've discovered that I have virtually no interest in writing Harry.

I am going to finish my essay today. I am. Why are you laughing?

There aren't any subtitles in the English version (at least the Canadian version). But half the audience understood it anyway and burst out laughing. I only understood about half of it, but it seemed to me that it wasn't coherent cussing, just random cuss words strung together for effect.
