Dec. 11th, 2004 04:01 pmYesterday, along with being Human Rights Day Festival and the day Nobel Prizes are awarded, was the Festival For the Souls of Dead Whales. Here at Olney it was also "talk like a Quaker" day, with the students running around trying to use "thee" instead of "you" and butchering grammar spectacularly.
Today, National Noodle Ring Day, it is snowing. This makes me happy.
I went to see National Treasure yesterday. Now, I didn't expect to like it. In fact I had very low expectations for it. I figured the distortion of history would drive me crazy, that Nicolas Cage would drive me crazy, and that I would hate the entire thing, but on the other hand I was on the edge of depression and movies are the only sure-fire way to get me to stop thinking. It was actually pretty good, even though the premise was completely hokey. The role of the Freemasons in early US history was addressed in a way that wasn't completely over-the-top These Are The Gods Of American History Who Were So Farseeing and Intelligent. And then there was of course Sean Bean as the bad guy, who was just completely yummy. Have I mentioned my love for this man lately? That accent! *shivers* Thus the icon.
