Granted, I've been mostly under a rock (when am I not?) since the big CrystalWank2004, so I shouldn't be surprised not to be up on fandom kerfluffles. A few questions, though. What is the f_w cabal? What is the shoebox project? Why is it that HP fen seem to have been mostly quiet? Who the heck is Phoenix?

I'm told f_w hasn't been as good since the influx after CrystalWank2004. Pity. I'd hoped that when I had time I'd be able to catch up on teh snark. < fangirl dramatics > OMG!!!!! A year of my life and f_w backstory wasted! How shall I ever live??! ..... oooooh, shiny new Lemony Snicket book! *scampers off*

Hi, I'm actually part of it.

The long and short of it goes as follows...HNK created a secret comm, basically of a group of people who had overlapping friendslists, so we could all talk to each other easily and know that everyone down this list had read what we'd said. She added Sagralisse, among other people, and Sagra didn't like this, and outed us all, spinning it so it sounded like we were some evil group of plotters.

Time passes, people know we're...I dunno, uppity bastiches? And then one day someone jokingly says 'Why don't we delete F_W?' And someone else...okay, me...jumped in and said 'Hey, that'd be funny. We could take it down for a week, then bring it back. Metaprank! AND possible object lesson!'

We did so.

ZorroRojo (who HAD been warned) was...not amused. And brought it back up again after a day. (Note, we'd planned on a week so that it gave time for the 'What the fuck?' number of hits to taper off, and it wouldn't all hit on one day.) And teh evol cabal was, once again, the source of all the pain in F_W yaddayaddayadda.

And we're still sitting in our comm, which, despite the whispers of a secret black cult or whatever, has mostly turned into our source for recipe trading, for some reason.

I remember when F_W was deleted. After the "wtf" moment, yeah, it was hilarious. More because the snarky girls from highschool masterminds were even more wanky about it than the rest of us plebes. :)

Oh, and Phoenix is mostly a bloody stupid annoying troll. Telling his tale would take too fucking long and feed into him too much, all you really have to know is this...he annoyed us on F_W (he was one of the anti-Cabal conspiracy theorists, among other things) but didn't get banned until...well, one member (who happened to be a cabal member) was being STALKED, like, online and off, and the person who was stalking her posted to F_W all stalker-y (I seem to remember it being something like 'I'm going to kill my cat and send you the video.') The stalker got banned, and Phoenix immediately jumped in to, basically, say that the fact that he couldn't win any of these arguments that he kept picking with us was as bad as the stalking, and everyone in the comm should be banned for trolling him.

Bye bye, Phoenix.

Unfortunately, he didn't learn, and kept posting anon, still all crazy and shit. We FINALLY got him banned by IP...two days ago? And we'll see how long that lasts.

The guy's a fecking idiot, and not even an entertaining one. Fortunately, another poster who's a friend of mine gave the guy merry hell when he dared compare his situation to that of the girl with the RL stalker.
