In which Zana is a dork

Sir Not Appearing In This LiveJournal turned 40 this week and we went to Franklin's, which is a pub/restaurant/toy store. That last is important, as I had neglected to get him a present to mark the momentous occasion. So between courses, I ducked into the toy store and although I'd meant to get him a humorous gift, I fell in love with a stuffed animal. A sting ray. 'Twas the most adorable thing ever. With, I kid ye not, green eyes.

I scrawled "Hello, my name is Doyle" on the ray's tag and presented it to Sir Not Appearing. He gave me his best "humoring the crazy person" smile.

Well, it amused me.

I got to testify in court on Friday! Which sounds much more exciting than it actually was. The courtroom didn't look anything like Law & Order, which I found disappointing. I was there to testify that 8585_john had not lived with his ex-wife for more than a year, so as to finalize their divorce. I didn't even have to show my ID, just swear I was who I said I was.

"How did it come to your attention that the Defendant and the Plaintiff had separated?"
Well, coming home and finding all his worldly possessions in our front hall was a bit of a clue. No, I didn't say that. No, I was not asked if it was okay for E's boyfriend to move in with us. No, I'm not really still bitter about that.

They shuffled all the cases in and out within half an hour, which impressed me. Then I went to Capitol Hill to have tea and biscuits with my surrogate mother, who is moving to the Pacific Northwest (*bawls*) and say my farewells.

I walked into the Coop in my suit and makeup and my boss took one look at me and said, "You've been at a job interview, haven't you?!"
