Well, this weekend on duty at least I did not go to the hospital twice or get staples in my head. In fact, the staples are now out, thank god. There's a scar which will probably annoy me for the rest of eternity since I can't SEE it, but at least no more staples. But that's not to say that the weekend was not... interesting.
Saturday the best part of my day was explaining to one of my Calc students that in fact, "kinky" is NOT the same as "corny" and no, Bridget Jones is NOT especially "kinky". Later while cooking one of my clumsier students turned on the mixer before securing ANYTHING, so mixer parts and cream cheese went everywhere.
There are other stories but they should go in a friends-locked post, which I won't get around to writing, so you'll just have to imagine what it was that made me spit water all over the posterboard we'd just drawn up for the girls' dorm meeting, I was laughing so hard.
Meanwhile, Ze Crush continues unabated, despite several firm talking-to's I've given myself. Ah, Unrequited Love. If said person were to show a glimmer of interest, of course, I would freak out. Ze Crush is only allowed because it's safe. ie, in the "not ever gonna happen, EVAR" department.
I got to squee with one of my students over Hornblower!! It is a happy, happy thing. I'm a third of the way through Flying Colours, having sailed (hah) through Beat to Quarters and Ship of the Line in the past three days. We bonded over our Archie-love but I had to tell her that alas, Teh Evol Forester Estate insisted that Archie be murdered. Murdered, I say! I suppose it only made sense to get the slashiness out of the way before introducing Maria, and then Barbara. BTW, I *heart* Lady Barbara. She doesn't take any shit, she's a strong character with a strong sense of self, and she's smart. Why the hell she ever married Admiral Leighton--( Rant )
Meanwhile, Sayid was TOTALLY flirting with Sawyer last LOST. Admit it, fools.
An out-take of last weekend's outing to Teh Gay Bar:
Seriously sketchy twenty-something guy, to M: Hey, my friend wants to know if you're gay and available?
M: Uh... Which one is your friend?
SSTSG: (pointing) The one with the dark hair.
M: (with the look of a hunted rabbit) Did I mention I'm actually sixteen?
SSTSG leaves and we all howl with laughter.
