boybands woe is I
Mar. 14th, 2003 06:26 pmSo. To finish the story I started a few days and a few posts ago... Dinner with expats. Nice folks. Couldn't really stand the guy, but whatever. Excellent cook, taught me how to make a wonderful sauce. We're talking about everything and nothing and we get on the subject of names. The Brit mentions that she was horrified when the French started naming their kids Kevin cause in the UK Kevin is pejorative. "Kind of like 'Brian'." It's kinda sketchy, she explains, almost "backstreet". Whereupon I open my big mouth and say, hey that's funny, there's both a Kevin and a Brian in the Backstreet Boys.
And I can't even stand their freaking music!!!!
Immediately they assume I'm a teeniebopper and a fan.
I am so ashamed. What's worse is that I know all about them and Nsync and several other boybands and I have never liked the music, always dispised the teenies, and could probably still win trivia contests about them--unless I was up against a twelve-year-old.
Jesus Christ. I am so lame.
