[livejournal.com profile] sylvanstargazer, you didn't nominate me to any positions in SSFFS, did you? Someone mentioned that threat awhile ago, and I just realized that nominations are up. I doubt they'd let me vote, but I'd vote for you for whatever you're running for. Instead I'll just pump good energy your way. Are Katie or Kami running for anything? Should I be sending them good energy too?

Pashabird, I would be honored to be your maid of honor. Though I should warn you that since I've only really been to Quaker weddings and untraditional weddings and lesbian commitment ceremonies, I don't know how traditional weddings work. What does a maid of honor do?

Um, yeah. There's a lot of other stuff, but I don't feel like writing it.

I didn't, did you want to be? I am up for President, and Librarian again. Kami is running for Anime Chair and something else I think. Katie is up for gaming again, I believe. Can't believe this year is almost over. I registered today. Taking two theater classes, one economics class and elementry portugese. Also, sight singing, T200 and I'm on the wait-list for yoga. I'm glad you'll be back next year.

Your first year,
Beth

No, I didn't want to. Sorry, sweetie, I tried to vote but Rebecca wouldn't let me. Which, since I haven't paid dues or ever gone to a meeting, makes sense. I wish Kami'd got anime chair. And since Erin and I have a sort of hostile-glare-across-the-room-cause-we're-too-damn-alike relationship, I probly won't be going to alot of meetings next year, either. So I will be hanging out in Kami's room demanding that she let me watch all her videos. And hanging with you, of course, since I am going to kidnap you back to Talbot. What house is your stuff (not you, mind) gonna be in next year?

My stuff is going to be on the second floor of Washburn, in a single right down the hall from Cat. Rebecca and Laura were real bitches last Friday. Grrr. Actually, I'm glad I didn't get another postition, since I can not stand Erin for another two minutes without strangling her and demanding that she use sentances that are at least shorter than Proust. I'm going to see if I can get copies of the SSFFS keys (illegaly, of course) for next year, so I don't have to deal with stupid people. The Anime chair thing; they decided to share the position, but Amanda will be the one to go to meetings, is all. Hm, I will do ConBust, and I'm going to see if I can organize a five-college crash room at WorldCon, if enough people are interested, and beyond that I am divorcing myself from the organization. Oh, and I'm going to use the library. But, after the number of hours I'm putting in to catalouge the thing, I think I should get privilages for life.
Not this summer, but next summer, I'm going to go to both Galaxicon (think of it, a convention center of gay geeks!) and WorldCon, where I may get to play the part of a DiskWorld Character. I'm excited.
And I may have a small amount of money to buy things like, say, eggnog next year! I got an actual internship. It's not a lot of hours, but if I get work study, I could probably get more. I'm also going to try starting a Boal group on campus next year. If it wasn't for the fact that I am taking no classes that require papers next semester, I would be dead in the water.

You'll make me a copy of the keys, too, won't you? Or at least let me borrow yours regularly?

maid of honor duties

The maid of honor, or if you got married first, matron of honor, is supposed to make sure everything that is supposed to happen, happens. You don't have to set things up, just make sure that things that have been arranged for don't get screwed up. Like if I want lillies they don't show up with tulips. And that the restaurant the rehearsal dinner is at hasn't forgotten our reservations. Basically you get to have a copy of all the important numbers and call them the day before they're supposed to do something. And you get to stand next to me instead of sitting somewhere, unless you want to sit, then that can happen too. Unless I want you to give me away...who knows. Aaron wants a Renaissance Festival-type wedding...not really sure what that means except he told me I can still have my pretty dress and a tiarra, and that even though he'll be wearing a RenFest costume at the wedding, we can still get normal wedding pictures with him in a tux. This means you'll get to wear some random Renaissance-era formal-ish outfit if you want...no ugly bridesmade dress for you. He wants his uncle to do the ceremony...he's an ordained minister, but who knows how it'll go, I don't want anything overly religious. But his father's side is very religious...god I'm probably going to meet his father early next fall...so much more nervous about this than I was about his mother...anyway, his father and I will probably clash on religion. But it's my wedding so I win. Even though he probably will be paying for most of it. So you still might not know how a traditional wedding works at the end of this. I wonder what kind of contract I'm gonna have to sign to rent my tiarra...no way in hell I'm gonna have enough money to leave a sufficient deposit. Guess that's what his loaded father is for ;).

Okay.... that sounds manageable. And I'm pretty good with religious stuff, since I've had to explain my parents' religion since forever, so maybe we can get across to his dad in a nonconfrontational way (always the best with future in-laws). Renaissance sounds awesome! I'll have to make myself a Dominique-Blanche-in-La-Reine-Margot type dress.

And yes, you have to make a toast. Probably two. One at the rehearsal dinner and another at the reception.
