AUGUST TO JUNE with respect for each child is a documentary about a whole-child based mode of learning, as opposed to a mode of learning based on test scores. It follows a teacher (who was intimately involved in making the film) and her students for a year, and I am assured by the creators that while it is a film with a message, it is not preachy or even analytical.
The creators are in town for the Save Our Schools March and are screening the film tonight and Sunday.
Thursday July 28 screening at American University, 7:30 pm
Sunday July 29 screening at Busboys and Poets, 8:00 pm
I'm planning to go to the Sunday night screening. The creators are family friends and wonderful artists and teachers, and I expect the film will be wonderful.
