(no subject)

People are saying 26 inches of snow. I do not dispute them. However, the amount of snow in the ten feet between my car and the plowed section of the street is more like four feet, thanks to said plow.

Sir Now Appearing and I went out today to dig my car out. A helpful neighbor lent us her snow shovel -- I went to Home Depot on Friday to buy one and they just laughed at me -- and we started in on the project, but quickly decided that with more snow due on Tuesday, we simply didn't care enough. We agreed that I would take his car, drop him off at his Super Bowl party, and pick up my dad (who finally got un-stranded-in-Philly) instead of digging out a metric ton of snow with a garden shovel and a rake. ...So instead, we dug out the helpful neighbor's car. It made sense at the time.

Work is canceled tomorrow. Having had to drive today, I completely condone the federal government closing. And since they hadn't even started plowing Greenbelt Metro station by 4 o'clock today, I'm betting no above-ground Metro tomorrow.

Also, I got ambyr's cold, which is entirely my own fault. She did warn me, but I foolishly said, "Sure, you can come over, I just won't kiss you." She is entirely too tempting, I tell you. :)

Jax has been ill all weekend, but I think he's doing better now. He hasn't been sick since three this morning, anyways.

I have gotten nothing productive done, especially with the power out most of Saturday. Sir NA at one point dug out his car just so he could sit in it and get warm. I lit half a dozen candles and hunkered down under six blankets, and that is how I discovered that wooden candle holders? Inherent design flaw.
