I really hate that Lambda Rising is closing -- just on a selfish level, it was the place I would escape to when, during weekend retreats at the Buddhist center, I started to go crazy on "emptiness" and "lack of existence from one's own side." Just down the street, I could ground myself by spending way too much money at the bookstore.

But they're closing, and everything is 50% off, and I can't say it wasn't awesome buying all the things I never let myself buy there before.

I got The Essential Dykes to Watch Out For for Em... and I'm totally keeping it for myself! She has all the originals anyway. *g*

In amongst the stuff I wouldn't buy at full price were a few of Mel Keegan's books, just to see if her original fic has evolved beyond Professionals-AUs-with-the-serial-numbers-filed-off. Death's Head, one of her first "original" novels, has absolutely no character development; Doyle's eyes are changed to gray and he gets to be the former soldier while Bodie gets to be the former cop, but otherwise it is so completely B & D that I thought it might have originated as a zine.

I will miss Lambda Rising...
