May. 31st, 2009 06:17 pmOn Friday after work (and I literally ran away with both my manager and the assistant manager calling after me, and me yelling "I'm off the clock!") I made my way through traffic up to Philadelphia to see my cousin, who was in town for the final crew race of her college career. I stayed with my aunt, and it was quite lovely. Saturday they rowed, and I cheered and took lots of pictures, and cheered for Smith in the race in between the University of Puget Sound's races -- I never did see my fellow Smithies row when I was a student, even though I had a roommate who did crew.
It is one of the most lovely feelings on earth to wake up, slowly pulled toward consciousness, surrounded by the love of someone actively meditating on cherishing you. I wish I lived nearer my family.
My aunt and I went out to the Jersey shore on a whim, and walked for a long time on the beach. I haven't been to the ocean in forever, and it's one of those things that fills up a hole in my soul for a little bit.
