So, today I...
--wrestled our books into submission in preparation for the Board Meeting tonight. My God I hate doing the books.
--managed to spill printer toner ALL OVER Andrei's office while repairing the new Xerox machine
--did 476032 loads of laundry
--hid as my boss had a fight with a coworker
--fixed a bunch of computers
--pitched a hissy fit at the fire alarm company. The backstory: on DECEMBER 14th, YES, LAST MONTH, the fire alarm went off, and we couldn't turn it off. We managed to turn it off for most of the house except for Caroline's room. She wore earplugs every night for her last two weeks as an intern here because she is patient like that (I would have committed homicide after two nights). Since then, IT HAS NOT STOPPED. We called the guy who's supposed to come fix it. Left him a voicemail. After a few days of leaving voicemails, we called the company we have the contract with. They were no help. Over the next few WEEKS, we continued to do this. BEGGED them to send someone, ANYONE. Nothing. Today I sat down and decided I was not going to get off the phone until someone both 1) apologized and 2) did something. The trick turned out to be to call the company who sends the fire department our way when the alarm goes off, and get THEM on the case. They tracked down the guy who's supposed to come fix it usually--he's had major surgery and someone was supposed to take up his account but no, the f---ing company couldn't actually manage that, could they. So he's calling in a friend and it should be resolved in the next few days.
Yeah. I'll believe it when I see it.
I'm so not going near the Board Meeting. Gonna hide and do laundry or something.
