News from the home front: have acquired toothbrush. Go me!
Baked bread today and did a driving lesson with my brother, both of which turned out rather well. Shadow is a lovely dog but does not get on with Sage, Sarah's dog, though Sage gets on with Andrew and Bridgette (grandparents' dogs) and so does Shadow, independently.
Got some birthday presents, which was cool. Realized that my dad disregarded my entire Christmas list. I try to make things easy for the man: I wrote up a list of CDs he owns that I'd like him to copy for me. Cheap, simple. Instead, he says, your birthday present is that I'll provide the blank CDs and you can burn as many as you want. Considering that he asked for a toothbrush for his Christmas gift, I have to wonder what will be waiting for me under the tree.
Chopped down a juniper bush on our lot and dragged it over to grandparents', set it up as a Christmas tree. Do not have gifts for many members of the extended family who will or who already have descended en masse upon us. Escaped for a few minutes to my attic, where I've set up a corner with bookshelves and a rug, but unfortunately the parental unit dragged me back down to help with the cooking.
Brother actually talked a bit today. I then proceeded to embarrass him by being really really hyper in the supermarket. The parental unit sent us on a beer, chocolate, and coffee run, which amused me greatly.
Stopped on the side of the road to pick mistletoe. Scotch-taped a bunch to the hanging cord on the fan, so it goes round and round and round and round.... Now need a smashingly handsome young man or woman so that I can get real kisses out of the damn thing.
Anyone have a recipe for stollen? I swear I used a Joy of Cooking recipe before, but there is no recipe in the copy of Joy of Cooking I thought I'd used....
Tomorrow will brave the mall with my brother to buy gifts. I only go to Northstar Mall once a year, if I can avoid it, and unfortunately this makes twice this year. Woe. The place is teh eval, I tell you.
Still really want to finish the fanfic I was reading before I discovered I had to spend the night in the airport. However, with dialup, this is not going to be possible, as it is the third-longest fanfic I have ever read. Well, fourth-longest if you include the one I'm no longer keeping up with in terms of installments.
Hey, random Tolkien-geek question: was Mithrandir a Maia? I could look it up, I know, but screw actually working for an answer when people who are even more obsessed than I are reading my blog.
