zana16Callahan let his afternoon class out early today so he could show Sally and me how to work Mathematica, which was uber-cool. It calculated pi to 20000 digits in the blink of an eye! Also it does integrals or you, iterated or otherwise. I am soooo asking my dad to use his educational discount (he's a professor) to buy me a copy for Christmas.

A student had declared she absolutely hated the author of her Calc I textbook, and had been told that the author had an office not twenty feet from where she was standing and would be happy to help her out, said "I don't think professors should write their own books." Henle's response: "She should take it up with the department chair." Okay, so only us math types here get the joke. But it was still hilarious.

Dissertation on Rabid Kinesiologists = DORK (this was mine)
I think this is a much better acronym than Dwarves on Rabid Kelpies (hers). Because really. Dwarves: mountains and rocks. Kelpies: lakes and seas.
