protest march
Mar. 15th, 2003 05:51 pmWent to the manifestation contre la guerre en Irak today. Good for my soul. All sorts of groups there; I was on the metro with the young anarchists, who all had cellphones and belonged to the freakin' YA organization, which cracked me up. I thought about marching with the Socialists since I work for them, but decided to see if there were any Americans marching. I didn't want to be the one American there, cause I really didn't feel like being lynched. I started at Place de la Nation, I caught up with the Americans around Place de la Bastille, after learning muchly from the strongest and most vocal group there, the Kurds. Perhaps Paris has a large Kurdish population? Dunno. Couldn't sing on key but at least there were quite a few of us yanks against the war. And we were toward the head of the parade so we got camera-time. Not that the media really cares about these things; everyone here is against the war anyways, so they just send a few people to count the turnout. I didn't even see one policeman until the very end, at Place de la Republique. There was a group of them loitering around with their full riot gear, protecting the buses. This amused me.
My firstyear has abandoned me.
sylvanstargazer, I'll do your laundry for you, honest. Just staaaayyyyy with meeeee.
Sent off a package to
lucyhale, and hope I have not been too presumptuous. Also hope the package is not exposed to heat, as it contains small amounts of gunpowder in the form of tiny fireworks.
Going to Spain for three weeks and am trying to find what on earth that huge building with the towers that look like dribble-castles is, where it is, and how I can get there. I've only ever seen pictures and nobody seems to have heard of it.
