May. 2nd, 2013 07:04 pmCalled up my old doctor (the one insurance covers). I wondered if the intimidatingly-awesome-nurse/office manager would remember me. "Hi Rosemarie, this is [my name]. I got a tick bite..."
"Another one?! Girl, you need to stay indoors!"
I guess they don't get too many Lyme patients? Or at least, not too many who fall to pieces at the diagnosis.*
I have calmed down enough that I've moved on from major worries (what does this mean for the experimental hormone therapy I've finally gotten the specialist to prescribe?) to minor ones (fuck. If I have Lyme again I'm going to have to go back to pasteurizing the goat milk again, aren't I?**).
*My aunt has systemic Lyme, which is Lyme that was not caught in time for it to be curable, and she is very disabled by it. When it was explained to me that I'd only just contracted the infection, I was a lot calmer.
**The only goat milk available in stores here is not organic, so last time I had Lyme I bought raw goat milk and pasteurized it on the stove because raw milk is contraindicated for the immuno-compromised.
