The Best Christmas Song EvAr
Dec. 16th, 2005 11:48 pmPretty good birthday, all considering. Emily took me out last night for dinner which was wonderful, and I got a SuDoKu book (OMG ADDICTIVE) and I stayed up till three am, I kept on telling myself "just one more and I'll go to bed." Woke up this morning to the doorbell and thought "wtf?", realized people were showing up for Worship and I hadn't even started coffee, let alone set out breakfast. Andrei made me fried rice, Byron put me in charge of the staff luncheon next week, we tried to fix the door, the workmen working on renovations fell off their ladder and onto the fax machine (it was hilarious as soon as we made sure they weren't hurt), bank messed up our petty cash account that I'm in charge of, Diana's mother came to stay here as my guest, I did more SuDoKu, I went to Firehook Bakery for lunch, I took a nap....
Tonight Heather made dinner and a cake for me, and she and Jeff and I went to see Brokeback Mountain, only of course it was sold out as this is opening night AND IT'S ONLY PLAYING IN TWO THEATRES IN THE ENTIRE DC REGION WTF?!!! Instead hung out in the ginormous B&N and looked at pretty, pretty books. Called my dad who had just had a horrible day--a student he'd been struggling with all semester because she didn't want to do work, is trying to get back at him by making a formal complaint saying he treats male students differently than female students. Fortunately the dean interviewed other people in the class who essentially said "No he treats spoiled lazy children differently from those of us who want to learn, that's all". But there has to be a full inquiry of course, and it's not a good end to the semester, which until now had been pretty positive. My dad had to get all his grades done early so that he could have the talk with the dean because he didn't want to influence anyone's grades so they could claim retaliation. Means he won't be grading papers over Christmas, at least.
Had eggnog with Liquor 43, sooo good. Also, gave Heather her Christmas present as I won't see her until the new year (unless she comes over tomorrow night). Today has been a day in which I gave presents instead of getting them (not complaining here, btw)--I guess there's some Hobbit in me after all. So, in the spirit of giving, here is my very favoritest Christmas song. Copy and paste to your browser, change the x's to t's, download, listen, and enjoy. *evil cackle*

Have posted haikus all over the kitchen on post-it notes, mostly things like "Eggnog is yummy/Janaki brought you eggnog/You should worship her" and labels on my food. Much fun!
