Lauren sings in my choir. She is good people; she does social justice-y stuff and was active with Occupy Philadelphia.

Lauren uses an electric wheelchair to live and work independently and deal with the pain of Arthrogryposis. Her old one recently died, and the new one costs $26,500. Her insurance will cover only $8000 of this. So she owes more than $18,000 for the new one, out of pocket.

Yay femmeslash! And thank you for donating! I have never actually seen Warehouse 13. If you're willing to be patient I can fix that, but it will take me a few months to watch four seasons. *hugs* Thanks again!

Hi -- just wanted to say that my dad needed a similarly expensive wheelchair, and the insurance wouldn't pay for even that much of it. However, we found a great lightly used one on Craigslist for $4000, which was a lot easier for friends and family to come up with. I know you have to get lucky, but definitely check out Craigslist.
