We have new neighbors. Actually they've been around at least six months, so we should know them better by now. Part of the problem is that for some reason, I cannot ever recognize the woman's face. Ever. This is a problem, as she usually takes the 6:02 bus with me in the evenings, and I don't say hi first because I never recognize her. Awkward.

So Friday, I recognized her! I sat down and started talking. And she told me about her graduate degree in nonprofit management, which I was a little confused by cause I thought she was a psychologist, and then she didn't get up when I got off the bus. And she said, "Oh, by the way, my name is Lauren, what's yours?"

So yeah. I sat down and talked to a complete stranger.

Good for you! That is how connections happen.

Think of something entirely absurd that rhymes with her name. (And don't ever tell her what it is.)

That sounds like the sort of conversation I would have (zero facial recognition skills). Awkward happens next time you meet non-profit-woman and don't recognise her.
