So, this journal isn't friends only, at least not quite. But anything remotely interesting personal is friends-locked, because I have students who are apparently not able to deal with the fact that I am a human being, so I need to be boring a role model by keeping my private life private. If you're interested in my life, friend me and I'll probably friend you back, unless you appear to be one of my students.

ETA: I no longer have students! I still have friends-locked entries, but not all that many. Feel free to friend, and I'll prolly friend you back even if I'm horrible about actually reading my flist consistently.

ETA 2: All (well, most) fannish content is f'locked for various reasons. But please do comment and I'll add you!

ETA 3: If you'd like to be on my various friends-filters, see this post and this post for details.

ETA 4: A cast of the characters you're likely to run into in the pages of this journal.

Out of curiousity-are you required to lock your journal enteries or did one of your kids find it?

[identity profile] zana16.livejournal.com 2004-10-19 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not required, but one of my students at least has found it, so I'm glad I thought to do it. We're required to not share details of our private lives that aren't "developmentally appropriate" to the student's age. When I was offered the job, I went back and made a whole bunch of old posts friends-only, so as not to have to deal with any situations.

I found your victorian journal by looking at interests. I saw this in persona journal and went to info and found that you were you . I thusly went and spoke to you directly. I was stalking you I promise, but I am a researcher. It is how I operate I like knowing the core answer of something and the question was who is this lovely writer...
Thank you for the copmpliment.
I love your victorian perspective.
It is really to the era.

I love the era, and I wanted to write a "growing-up" story from a girl's point of view that would result in her seeing both the scientific excitement and romanticism of the time, as well as the societal reality.

Yep. Apparently a few of them have been reading "in between the lines" and came to the conclusion that I was involved in a passionate love affair with a coworker (who is admittedly gorgeous, but we would not suit) and that then I dumped him and broke his heart. Or something. Fellow teachers bring it up to laugh over whenever I'm feeling down.

Alot of them seem to have ljs as well but except for one student who asked me to look at his (and wanted me to friend him) I've stayed away; it feels too much like spying. There are things I don't want to know about my students; I already know some of them too well.

hello! i recently decided to create a new livejournal, as i retired my old one a few months ago, and i wanted to start anew.. thing is, the username i've settled on just so happens to be taken by you, the automne one.. and i was wondering if, since it looks like that's been somewhat abandoned, you'd like to hand the keys on over to me?? whatever your decision, no hard feelings. and just reply back to this and i'll keep an eye out for a response. should you decide to help me out, i'll give you my contact information and we can work something out. :) thanks!!

I've thought about it, and decided I can move my stuff there over to another journal. It'll take me awhile to get around to it, though. Email me and we can talk more.

Hi there! This is really interesting. See, today I found the school feature on LJ. I did a search for people in my class at Clark HS in San Antonio. There were only a few students, and I stumbled upon your account. Lo and behold, you live in DC! So I read your userinfo, and you were born in CA and spent some time in Spain! I absolutely had to add you. Why?

I was born in San Bernardino County, CA. In 1988 I moved to San Antonio, TX and went to Rudder Middle School, Marshall HS, then Clark HS until 1996 when I moved to Rockville, MD. 3 years ago I met my husband who is from Spain. I now live in Alexandria, VA and work for the government near L'Enfant Plaza. :)

hey - found you by clicking on Smith and always excited to add new (esp. DC) Smithies to the flist. mind if I friend?

[identity profile] zana16.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't mind at all! I love meeting Smities in new places.

How weird is that! I lived only a town over from San Bernardino, in Redlands.

I always love hearing about interesting local people. And I *love* your "Days til Bush is gone" banner. Brilliant!
