(no subject)

I can't possibly be the only person in America who wants to put a Jewish star at the top of our Christmas tree. I mean, there are other blended families. Where is the greedy capitalist corporation that's supposed to be catering to us, God damn it??

In a total reversal of common sense, I have managed to lose my credit card bill (again) but instead I have finished buying for all but two people on my Christmas list and wrapped most of it.

Random topic #3: I hate my job with a fiery, burning passion. However, I have a fiery, burning love for Leadership Initiatives, a grassroots community-based nonprofit group that helps students in Nigeria, Namibia, and the Philippines create programs for social change. Awesome projects, great work for the world, and seriously the three guys (my age, and I'm still kind of shocked at that) who founded and put together this thing wait tables part-time and spend the rest of their time on the ground and/or writing grants. I gave them much more money than I could afford, though I did talk myself down from the type of figure I really couldn't afford to one that creative bookkeeping--ie raiding my long-term savings--couldn't reduce somewhat. As I explained to Emily, when it's a choice between African children and paying the cable bill, I'm going with the African children. Especially since I wasn't party to the decision that got us cable even if I really, really like it.

So. If for some reason you were thinking of getting me a gift, don't. Please make a contribution to these people instead. They completely rock.

Hey, I just realized that I haven't heard from you in a long time. Hi.

And really, someone in this massive capitalist establishment has got to make a star of David tree-topper. Tried eBay?

I bought my sister-in-law a Chanukah lollipop for her Xmas stocking, does that count?

:)

Long time no write. This is entirely my fault, of course; I haven't been around LJ for awhile. How are you doing?

Actually, I saw something similar to a Jewish star on top of what I think was intended as a Christmas tree. The star was part of a long string of lights, and all the stars had different numbers of points. It was probably just luck that the Jewish-looking star was placed on top. This was somewhere in Chinatown.
